Studied guitar and musicology (Dr.phil.) in Innsbruck and teaches guitar and contemporary music at the Vienna University of Music and the Performing Arts (Univ.Prof.).
He has made himself a name both as soloist and in various ensembles in the field of contemporary avantgarde and exspecially improvised music. He has worked with the RSO Wien, the Orchestra of the Bavarian Radio, Tiroler Symphonieorchester Innsbruck, WDR-Sinfonieorchster Köln, Ensemble Modern Frankfurt, Klangforum Wien, Burkhard Stangl’s Maxixe… special and collective projects, among others the duo together with his wife Barbara Romen and Harsch (with B.Romen, Burkhard Stangl und Christof Kurzmann), Tyromanie (music for 9 Tyrolean musicians), Stimmen der Steine erspüren (Tracking stones’ voices), using stone objects by sculptor Kassian Erhart,
Klopfzeichen together with wood print artists Michael Schneider and Miida Seiichiro (Tokyo Geidai Univ.) and Barbara Romen.
Gunter Schneider and Barbara Romen have performed, both in Japan and Europe, with several Japanese musicians from the improvisational and new music scene (Sugimoto Taku, Akiyama Tetuzi, Unami Taku, Ishikawa Ko). He has composed music for the famous Japanese sho-player Miyata Mayumi together with Suzuki Tosiya, recorders, and Stefan Hussong, accordion („MU“, commissioned by and performed at Klangspuren Schwaz 2002).

He composed music for solo instruments, chamber ensembles, singers and orchestra. Pieces for guitar were published by Doblinger, UE, and Helbling. Commissions by the Austrian Federal Ministery of Cultural Affairs, the Tyrolean Government, the ORF, and Klangspuren Schwaz. Performances among others at Musikprotokoll des Steirischen Herbstes, at the festival Wien modern, Osterfestival Innsbruck, ORF Wien and Innsbruck. 1993 Emil-Berlanda-Preis of the Tyrolean Government. Several prizes for compositions.

Seit 2001 produziert Otto M. Schwarz fast ausschließlich Filmmusiken für internationale Filmproduktionen. So kam es bei seinen ersten drei Filmen zur Zusammenarbeit mit dem international renommierten Regisseur Peter Patzak.

“Um Kopf und Kragen” aus der Reihe Polizeiruf 110 erreichte eine Einschaltquote von sechs Millionen. Seit dem Herbst 2001 arbeitet er mit LISA Film zusammen. Es entstanden Produktionen für die deutschen Fernsehanstalten ARD, ZDF, dem österreichischen Rundfunk (ORF) und dem italienischen Fernsehen RAI. Im März 2002 wurde die Romanverfilmung Die Wasserfälle von Slunj bei den TV-Festspielen in Venedig ausgezeichnet. Filme mit Horst Tappert (Herz ohne Krone) und Franco Nero (Die achte Todsünde, Das Todeskarussell) folgten Seit 1995 veröffentlicht er Kompositionen im Bereich symphonisches Blasorchester im holländischen Musikverlag De Haske und dem Schweizer Mitropa-Verlag. Werke wie Nostradamus, For the Next Thousand , Roller Coaster, A Song for You oder Jazz Waltz werden auf der ganzen Welt gespielt. Bekannte Formationen wie The Johan Willem Friso Military Band (Holland), Symphonic Winds (Italien), The Band of the Belgian Navy (Belgien), das LBO Baden-Württemberg, Brighouse & Rastrick Band (Großbritannien), Soli Brass (Holland) und viele mehr nahmen Werke von Otto M. Born 1980 in Wiener Neustadt, Austria, Huber studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna from 1998 to 2006: composition (M. Jarrell, D. Müller-Siemens; graduated with distinction, Mag.a art.) music theory (D. Torkewitz, graduated with distinction, Mag.a art) piano performance (J. Vintschger, S. Möller, diploma, Mag.a art., doctoral dissertation: “The Piano Concerto after 1970”).
Composition: Master classes (Helmut Lachenmann, Hanspeter Kyburz).

Various prizes (required piece for the 2nd International J. Haydn Competition 2004, International Summer Academy Prague-Vienna-Budapest, Vienna Symphony Scholarship 2006). Huber conducts her own works. Piano: Master classes (Oleg Maisenberg, Noel Flores). Multiple prizewinner, pianist in numerous premieres.

1979 – 1981 appointed teacher at the University of Music in Vienna.

1983 co-initiator of the Viennese Summer Seminars for modern music.

Since 2000 lecturer for Music Theory and Composition at Prayner-Conservatory, Vienna. Since 2006 lecturer at Intercultural Seminar Microtones (with special Keyboard of Hans-André Stamm, 48 tones pro octave), students from China, Japan, Korea, Kroatia, Spain, Austria. Microtonal concerts in Vienna and Salzburg, CDs, TV-transmission in Japan. 2008 Book “Option Microtones” (in German language). Conductor of Classical concerts with own first performances.

Soyka got many awards for his compositions. He wrote operas, concertos for piano and orchestra, for violin, for two violins, for viola, for flute, for saxophone, for violoncello, for percussion, for organ; ballet music, choral and chamber music, songs e.g.

Most of them were performed and broadcasted, in Australia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Brasilia, Côte d Yvoire, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Great Britain, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Kroatia, Kuba, Norway, Poland, Romania, Sweden, Slowakia, USA, Austria (Mozarteum Salzburg, Vienna Festival, Musikverein, Hofmusikkapelle, Schloß Belvedere usw.) e.g.

Soyka wrote numerous ordered compositions for music-organisers and festivals, f.e. Azerbaijan (Baku Arts-Centre and Philharmony), Klagenfurt and Amstetten (stages), Vienna, Göppingen (municipals), Genova (Italy), Györ (Hungary), Salzburg, Sofia (Bulgaria), Vilnius (Lithuania) , for radio, for records, TV e.g. Many microtonal compositions.
