    Sounds New Contemporary Music Festival (UK), together with Coup de Vents (France) are offering selected composers a unique opportunity to wite for the ICP Ensemble and have their works performed in both England and France.
    In 2012, the final year of this three-year programme, ICP extends its Call for Scores to participants from around the world. The winning work will be offered publication subject to agreement by the House of Edition Peters.

    INTERNATIONAL WIND ENSEMBLE/CONCERT BAND COMPOSITION CONTEST, “HARELBEKE, CITY OF MUSIC 2011 – 2012”.The Town of Harelbeke (Belgium)’s aim, in holding for the fifth time a biennial International Composition Contest, is to consolidate its position as a “Town of Music” on the world map.
    Contemporary music, more specifically in the sector of music for wind and percussion instruments, deserves permanent backing. In our role as a Town Council, our aim is to motivate composers and performers and to provide a window onto the world. The importance of this contest shouldn’t be underrated.
    Building a musical bridge between international communities is, after all, essential to the future of mankind. The contest makes a contribution towards that.

    Kompositionswettbewerb zum Thema „neue Musik für Blaskapelle“: NEUE MUSI !
    Im Rahmen der „Tage der Neuen Musik in NÖ 2012“ (19. – 21.10. in Krems) wird heuer ein Schwerpunkt mit dem Titel „Neue Musi“ gesetzt. Dabei soll die Blaskapelle als bedeutender Klangkörper traditionellen österreichischen Musiklebens durch die Kombination mit bisher in diesem Zusammenhang wenig verbreiteten musikalischen Möglichkeiten in neues Licht gerückt werden.
    Gesucht werden Kompositionen, die sich abseits kommerzieller Pfade über die Kategorien von Hoch-, Volks- und Popkultur erheben und den mitwirkenden MusikerInnen und in weiterer Folge dem Publikum spannende musikalische Erfahrungen ermöglichen.

    CALL FOR SCORES

    The proposed compositions should belong to either of the following categories:
    a) instrumental, vocal or vocal-instrumental (any combination from one to eight instruments from the list below)
    b) electronic or electroacoustic (electroacoustic may include any combination from one to three instruments from the list)

    Eligible instruments
    1. flute, 2. oboe, 3. clarinet, 4. bassoon, 5. French horn, 6. trumpet, 7. trombone, 8. piano, 9. harp, 10. acoustic guitar, 11. violin I, 12. violin II, 13. viola, 14. cello, 15. double bass, 16. mezzo-soprano, 17. baritone, 18. percussion, 1 player (only light, easily transportable instruments may be used, such as: tambourin, triangle, sleigh-bells, castanets, cowbell, maracas, guiro, cabasa etc.)

    duration – up to 10 minutes

    According to the International Review of Composers Statute only works written during the last three years will be considered. Propositions may be submitted by composers, performers, associations and copyright societies.

    Each proposition should be accompanied by:
    1) score (preferably as a pdf file). 2) recording, if possible (preferably mp3)
    Composers of the selected pieces will be requested to send complete performance materials, which includes:
    1) parts, 2) electronic realization (for electronic and electroacoustic compositions), 3) photo
    4) biography (up to 150 words), 5) short comment (up to 150 words)

    Side events can also be proposed: symposia, round table discussions, presentations of various works, anthological concerts.

    Deadline for submission: June 1, 2012 (Central European Time)
